I'm using a diet pill with stimulants and I think it's making it harder for me to sleep. Can I take a sleep aid to balance that off?

It sounds like it would make sense, but I don't think it's a good idea. It may be better to consider another diet pill product or take a smaller dose or lower your caffeine consumption while taking it so it doesn't disturb your sleep than to take a sleep aid for sleep help. It's never a good idea to take a second drug to combat the side effects of another drug, especially when this regimen wasn't prescribed by your doctor and there are other alternatives.

No, it's not. Honestly, if you're current diet pills are making it hard for you to sleep you need to find either a new product, as Tony1968 suggested or find ways to make taking your current product work for you. Talk to your doctor if you're not sure how to make the diet pills work best for you.
