  • Mushrooms instead of meat in chili!

    I made chili using all the usual ingredients last night, except that I had all these sliced mushrooms I needed to use up. I used those instead of beef and oh my god it was so good. I loved it just as much as my chili recipe that has meat in it. It was filling and delicious. I highly recommend giving it a try because you still get a ton of flavor, it's filling, but way lower calories and fats. You still get lots of proteins from the beans.

    Do you cook the mushrooms first? I'm having a hard time picturing how this would turn out in my head.

      Is it as satisfying as eating meat like beef or chicken? Mushrooms have a consistency to them so the texture would be good, but do you just end up hungry in an hour?

        Does the type of mushrooms matter to how filling it is?

          Do you put beef stock in or something? How do you give it flavor? I can't imagine mushrooms would go as far as ground beef. How do you fill out the missing taste?
