  • What's fresh and local in winter?

I know we should all be focusing on the freshest produce and local is best for nutrition and a low carbon footprint, but how do I do that when the place where I live is in a snowy winter. Nothing is growing here until spring.

Just try to go as local as you can. If you find something at the grocery store that is from California or Florida or even Mexico, it has a lot less distance to travel than it would from South America or Asia. Smaller carbon footprint automatically

I agree. I think in this, as with most things, you just try to do as best you can. There's no perfect way of doing it, so just trying your hardest is best.

Thanks. Good idea. I guess that rules out a lot of processed foods from around the world too. That hadn't even occurred to me until now.
