  • Interval training

I read interval training is better than doubling your regular workout. How would I do that for walking?

Essentially you would speed up and slow down your walk throughout its duration. The following is an example of a beginner interval walking exercise recommended by Spark People. It takes less than a half hour to do.

    Warm up for five minutes
Walk at a brisk pace for one minute
Walk at a moderate pace for two minutes
Walk as fast as you can for one minute
    Walk slowly for two minutes
    Walk briskly for one minute
    Walk moderately for two minutes
Walk as fast as you can for one minute
    Walk slowly for two minutes
    Cool down for five minutes

Holy cow! I'd need to bring a notepad with me to remember all of that! I imagine myself standing on a sidewalk, looking confused because I wouldn't know if I did that stage yet LOL

Thank you! I'm going to set up timers in my phone!

That sounds like a lot but after you do it once, it makes "sense" and it's not hard to remember
