    Cucumbers, onions, cabbage, cauliflower all do well in vinegar with a bit of sugar, pickling spices and some turmeric. You can salt the veg overnight and then rinse them out of the brine to make sure they get extra crispy. Snip off the flower end of your cucumbers to get rid of the enzyme that causes softening.

    I'm starting to get some serious harvests from my vegetable garden. Please share your favorite recipes for pickles, soups that can be frozen, jams, sauces and anything else that can help me use all this up before it spoils!
