marshmallows aren't vegan!

I just wanted to post this because I made a mistake this weekend thinking marshmallows were vegan. I made a dessert for a friend who is vegan and she (respectfully) insisted that marshmallows aren't vegan. To prove her wrong, I got out the package, and there it was in the ingredients: pork gelatin! If this is common knowledge, I sure hadn't heard it before. So I wanted to share this in case you're planning to make holiday foods with marshmallows but have a guest who is vegan or doesn't eat pork.

Seriously? I am surprised. I always just thought marshmallows were made out of sugar and chemicals.
