  • does water help you lose weight?

I know it’s healthy and it’s important, but will drinking water actually make you lose weight faster or is that a myth?

I'm not entirely sure but I think it works as an appetite suppressant to a certain extent. So I guess if hunger's your problem, yes

Honestly, I don't think drinking water specifically helps you to lose weight. While I think it is an important part of health and diet and its important to an overall weight loss regimen it doesn't won't make you lose weight faster. It also isn't really a good appetite suppressant either because while filing up on water may make you eat less at a meal, eventually you'll just feel hungry again and then you'll be more likely to eat the wrong things. Trying to suppress your appetite by filling up on water will get old pretty quick and feeling waterlogged isn't a good feeling either.

It can help you if you drink it before meals. It'll make you feel fuller so you'll be less inclined to eat more. I actually think it's one of the best "appetite suppressants" out there. At least by drinking water you know you're not going to lose sleep, feel sick or get heart palpitations!

It depends on how you look at it. While drinking water isn't going to suppress your appetite in any way that will actually matter in the long run (so, no, I don't think you should drink it for that reason), drinking water instead of other high-calorie or high-fat drinks will definitely help you to lose weight by keeping your calories down.

Really? I thought water suppressed your appetite. I know that none of the places I've read that are medical journals or anything but I've seen it in a lot of places

Water can help you suppress your appetite, that said, I don't think it actually helps you lose weight any faster. The speed at which you lose weight depends on several factors not just drinking water. That said, in my personal experience I just want to add that I personally find coffee suppresses my appetite better than water.

I thought the same thing but since everyone seemed to think water didn't work, I didn't want to sound like I was dumb. I totally agree Tony1968. I has light but effective benefits for weight loss.
