  • weight lifting question

I'm thinking about lifting weights to help tone my arms, does anyone know how many pounds I should start out with and when I should increase the weight? Thanks.

It depends specifically on your current strength and fitness level. For that, you'll likely need to talk to a trainer at a gym. You can usually get that advice for free or pretty cheap

I guess you should do what challenges you at the start but that isn't too much. Then, as the weight gets too easy, add more

I'd try 5 pounders first and then go up a couple of pounds at a time. You should feel the burn, but not to the point where after one rep your arms are going to fall off. Weight should be a challenge not impossible. That said, Brightstar is right. It's best to talk to a trainer. You don't want to injure yourself because this will just set you back.

Thanks. I think maybe I’ll see if there are any trainers at a local gym I’m thinking about joining who might be able to give me some pointers.
