The more I read about weight loss, the more it seems that it's all about what you eat. Why would i increase how I exercise? Does it do anything at all?

Does exercise do anything at all for weight loss?

It does. If your calories are where they should be, then exercise will help you to lose more weight. Since most of us don't have calories where they should be (without changing our diets) exercise doesn't do enough to make a difference. The calories come first, but then the exercise makes a big difference next.
