  • how to get motivated to exercised while depressed

    The holiday season hasn't even started yet and I can already feel the beginnings of the depression I always get at this time of the year. How do I get myself up and moving when all I want to do is go back to bed? I'm already trying my best to eat healthy - somewhat successful, but somewhat not. But the idea of exercising is like asking me to volunteer for something I hate. Any suggestions are welcome. Thank you in advance.

    Set tiny goals. Don't tell yourself you'll do a half hour workout every day. Tell yourself to do 2 minutes. If you can keep going once you're up and doing 2minutes and stretch it into 5 or 10, do that. If not, you did 2 minutes. Be proud of yourself. The hard part is getting started. Be proud of yourself when you do.

      Take one step and see if others follow. If they don't, don't be hard on yourself. It's easy to be overwhelmed at this time of the year. Sometimes, the motivation just isn't there. When you can get yourself going, do it. If not, it's okay.
