  • Pictures of great meals, not of me

I found taking pictures of me for my progress was just depressing. Instead, I've started taking pictures of the healthy meals I'm making. I'm taking time to choose a good portion and plate it nicely, then I share on my insta account. I've found that doing this is helping me to put a lot more care into my meal choices and I enjoy them more. In this way, I'm tracking my great behaviors, not my outcomes, which is more motivational.

OMG!! This is brilliant!! I hate taking B&As of me, too! I find them so depressing and un-motivational! I'm going to take pictures of the food I make, too. You're right, by tracking the positive changes in this way, you can see the good you've done.

That's really smart! I've been doing something similar, except not with food. I'm always really proud of myself when I exercise. I take a picture of myself after every time I exercise and I record how much time I spent doing it. Exercising makes me feel healthy and by tracking it through pictures, I have a record of how frequently I do it. I know this isn't the same as taking pics of food, but it's my way of tracking my health with pics in a way that makes me feel motivated and good. I agree with you that tracking my behaviors is way more beneficial than my outcomes!

That's such a good idea. I'm sick to death of looking at myself. I'm so frustrated with life right now. I feel like every time I set a goal, it gets kicked down. At least food porn is positive.

Exactly! Who doesn't like looking at food? It's a great way to stay motivated and even motivative others with your healthy recipes!

So do you just take a picture of all your meals, so you have to be motivated to make all your meals healthy or you'll have proof that you ate bad, or do you just take a pic of your good meals so you motivate yourself to make good meals so you can take pictures of it as proof?
