I've read a lot of conflicting information about low carb diets, like atkins, paleo, etc. Some research says that eating a diet that is low in carb but that is high in protein can lead to weight loss, but others say that too much protein can also be dangerous. Are there any benefits to these diets at all? How low is too low when following a low-carb diet?

From what I understand some low carb diets can be dangerous, especilly if you eliminate all carbs and have too much protein. There's nothing wrong with reducing your carb consumption and it's alright to up your protein intake, but it depends on where you are getting your protein. For instance, too much red meat isn't good for your health, etc. If you want to follow a low-carb diet, it's best to talk to a dietician or your doctor.
