  • Best way to stop snacking

I just wanted to say that the best way that you can stop snacking to make sure that you’re not blowing your calorie count out of the water is to stay busy. Especially your hands. Do something where you just can’t eat at the same time. The best thing is to stay active, but otherwise, even if you’re stuck on your butt in front of the TV, then at least do something so that snacking is out of the question. You barely even think about it as long as you’re occupied.

That's good advice KenTraver! Thanks! Do you have any suggestions on how to keep yourself busy in front of the TV? That's my favorite snack time. That's the worst for me when it comes to keeping busy.

I like knitting or doing a craft like that. There's no way I could do that and eat at the same time, but I don't have to watch what I'm doing so I can still watch tv

Knitting, crocheting, needlepoint, cross stitch, or any of those crafts that you can do in your hands is great. I've just taken up latch hooking. It lets me stop eating and get a lot of xmas presents made haha

Latch hooking...you mean like making rugs and stuff Brightstar? I don't know if that's up my alley. I score about a -1 on the craft meter LOL.

LOL maybe it's time that you gave it a try! Depending on how much weight you have to lose, TroyBurger, you might find yourself scoring a "5" by Christmas...that and you'll really knock the socks off the people who receive your gifts. And that's great if you've knit socks for them haha

LOL that's the spirit, Brightstar! Maybe the first step in helping to stop snacking is to spend your time looking for an activity that will keep your hands busy and that will help you to draw out your crafty side, TroyBurger haha. What about sewing? You can fix clothing that have holes or that buttons have fallen off of.

LOL I have to say I'm with you TroyBurger. I don't think my fingers are quite that nimble (that's my way of saying that there's no way I'm going to sit there sewing while I'm watching the game). Those are all great ideas if you aspire to be Martha Stewart and all that - and that's great if you do - but that's not exactly what I'd suggest for everyone.

I was thinking about squishing stress balls, tossing a bean bag from one hand to the other, or doing something like that for keeping your hands busy, not creating arts and crafts. But well, whatever works for you, 1000kilowats!

KenTraver, now that's more like it! I'll try the stress ball. Last night I thought it would be wise to click a pen...I had no idea my wife has the ability to snap a pen in the blink of an eye lol!
