  • eating vs exercise for weight loss

I am exercising a lot lately but I find when I exercise the most, I am starving and it’s impossible to stay in my calorie range. This is really a problem. Im’ not just a little bit hungry after a big workout. I could eat a whole medium pizza. Am I exercising too much? Am I just weird?

I don't think you're exercising too much but what could be happening is that you're not giving your body enough fuel before you exercise and that why you're starving after. I'd recommend eating a high-protein snack before you workout. This might help with the hunger afterwards. You may still be hungry after but picks a high-fiber snack and that should help to fill you up so you don't eat the bad stuff

You're not weird. I sometimes have this problem too. TeensyTiff pretty much said it though. Pay attention to what you're eating before you workout. Working out on an empty stomach is a bad idea, so is working out filled up only on carbs. There are different low-cal snacks that you can eat that shouldn't blow your calorie count but that should help you to feel less starving when you're done working out. Also, make sure you are well hydrated when you're exercising. Believe it or not but not drinking enough can also amp up your hunger cravings.

I do'nt know anything about nutrition, but I always eat carbs and protein together before a workout. That way, the carbs satisfy you right away and give you instant energy and that carries you over until the protein kicks in.

I agree with MadMike. the carb and protein combo is good right before workout because the carbs do give you the burst of energy while the protein should sustain you for longer after you do exercise. If you find you're really hungry after you workout, I'd recommend a small snack high in fiber. This will satisfy you more. Refrain from filling up on carbs because you won't stay satisfied for long and you're likely to just feel weighted down.

You can always snack after a workout, too. Just find foods that are nutrient dense but low in calories. If you eat veggies then you can have as much as you want
